Motorcycle Accidents

As attorneys who specialize in motorcycle accident injury cases, ACME Law Offices in Chicago knows that motorcycle riders are unique. The adventurous spirit of the rider provides for an enjoyable, economical, and practical method of transportation. However, as most riders are aware, Illinois and Wisconsin motorcycle crashes number in the thousands and result in thousands of injuries and deaths each year. Even the most experienced and careful rider is at the mercy of other motorists, and motorcycle accident victims often experience the most severe types of injuries as compared to other motor vehicle accidents

About 75% of motorcycle accidents involve a crash with another vehicle, primarily cars. According to the NTSB, over the past decade, over 70,000 people have suffered from serious injuries while over 3,000 more have died from motorcycle accidents. In the overwhelming majority of these cases, the biker is not at fault for the accident.

A motorcycle accident can result in a range of injuries, from the minor to the life-threatening and fatal.  Some of the most common and severe types of motorcycle accident injuries are head and neck injuries that can leave the victim paralyzed or in a permanently vegetative state.  As a result, victims and their families may face exorbitant medical bills, loss of wages, and continued emotional distress. A motorcycle accident victim may be entitled to the following types of compensation:
  • Medical treatment and compensation for future both past and future medical care
  • Motorcycle repair or replacement
  • Payment of medical bills
  • Recovery of lost wages from the accident
  • Recovery for pain and suffering from injuries
